Occurrence remarks An evergreen shrub to 2 m tall and wide, with many erect basal stems arching outwards; young stems smooth and reddish-brown, becoming rough and stringy with age. Leaves simple, opposite, ovate, 2-5 cm long x 1.5 - 2.5 cm wide. Flowers borne in terminal and axillary panicles and cymes, 1 to about 6 together. Perfume faint; flowers from early December to April. Calyces colour. Common name: Glossy Abelia. Donation to CANB from Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), School of Horticulture, October 2009.
