Occurrence remarks | Untidy shrub to 1 metre high, branches sturdy & spreading. Stems with silvery- white hairs. Young shoots slightly viscid, with reddish glandular hairs. Leaves moderately-green, non-viscid. Corolla tube slightly curved, clavate in bud. Corolla dorsally reddish-pink, ventrally whitish or off-white. Filaments creamish, anthers brown, with distinct chin. Style creamish, basally & apically green. This is one of two populations on property. There are ca.100 plants over an area 20 x 20 metres. Individuals of various age classes present. Naturalised from original plants planted at site ca.25 years ago. Kangaroo & wallaby scats and tracks evident. Bush-rats also in area. There is a very real risk of these animals spreading the minute Erica seed into immediately adjacent bush, a very serious threat to Grampians National Park. Honeyeaters observed feeding on nectar of Erica versicolor (abundantly naturalised at site) & Erica bauera (not naturalised as yet). |
