Organism remarks | 1. ugly orange-brown, club or pear shaped, small for a Pisolithus, but otherwise typical. Basidiomes: half buried in sand; orange-brown (red-orange-yellow orange, 7B6-4A7-5A4); darker at top, clavate; ;yriform or spherical with attenuated basal rhizoids attached (brown). 1-3 cm wide x 2-5 cm high. Gleba: maturing from apex to base. Comprised of oval locules 1-3 mm diam. becoming larger and then breaking down as spores mature. Thin black or brown boarder between locules. Basal tissue: (sterile) orange (5A7) immature locules pale yellow (2A6), then purplish white (13A2), becoming dark brown when maturing (6F6). Mature spores olive brown (3D8), powdery. Peridium: colour as above, surface texture smooth or with shallow dimples, thin (<0.5 mm). Mode of life: unknown. Odour: musty, fungal. Taste: plain. |
