| Field notes | Annual pileate bracket polypore with slight resupinate part. Pileus flattened-circular, smooth, mid- to dark-brown, with thin concentric zonation, 7-37 mm perp. to substrate, 13-66 mm wide, thin (mostly 1-1.5 mm) with a slightly thickened base c. 2-3 mm thick. Pores shallow, round to slightly angular, 13-14 per cm, weakly but distinctly bruising reddish-brown where touched, tubes up to 1 mm long. Flesh yellowish-brownish cream when fresh, tough, up to 1.8 mm thick at base. Causing a white rot. |
