Organism remarks | (i) dull rose brown cap and stipe; (ii) creamy rose, very pale gills; (iii) upturned cap with central depression; (iv) exuding some milky exudate when cut. Pileus: 25 - 30 mm diameter; applanate with thick incurved margin becoming upturned with a central depression and plane down turned margin; foamy / frosty becoming smooth dry; minutely atomate sometimes remaining frosty centrally; flesh to 3 mm thick and dull pale brownish red (near 8C4); cap dull dark rose pink (11D6) becoming more orangish (9D5), more or less uniform; dry; smooth; slight milky exudate from pileus and gills immediately after cutting. Stipe: 7 - 8 x 14 - 30 mm; cylindrical with rounded base becoming broader centrally; whitish frosty, easily removed fibrils, dull rose pink (11D6) remaining so in older specimens; flesh stuffed centrally creamy orange pink (7A3), dark dull pink brown in thick margin, becoming broadly hollow (collybioid). Lamellae: adnate becoming adnexed; narrow straight edge gills crowded; creamy orange pink (6A3); edge smooth and entire; narrow to 2.5 deep (L=28, l=82) bifurcations near margin. Basal mycelium: like Russula a basal clump of soil adheres to base; some secondary roots remaining attached too. Spore print: white Mode of Life: unknown Odour: sweetly fungoid. |
