Occurrence remarks Vine with soft, velvet purplish-green juvenile foliage and stems. Roots at nodes. Juvenile leaves subtended by a foliaceous stipule. adult leaves glossy green above and below. Formerly cultivated but has now escaped into remnant forest on hillside property between Cooktown and Hopevale. Originally purchased as potted plant. Owner planted in shade of remnant forest on her property and it has become a climbing 'triffid' that has infested the forest. Reported to climb canopy and become so heavy that it breaks treetops. Specimen collected by property owner (Judy Irwin) and brought to BMW for identification. Collected as part of the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy.
