Occurrence remarks Tufted grass to 45cm high. Nodes purple and glabrous. Leaves mid to dark green. Young leaves at base of plant with white hairs, hairs more dense on sheath. Ligule a short membrane. Lemmas with antrorse spines on awns. Heads white. Many heads with black saprophytic moulds, Epicoccum nigrum and Alternaria alternata. Mould identified by M. Priest (DAR) on 14 April 2009. Locally common, >50 plants.

Event remarks scoparius, growing with Austrodanthonia penicillata, Deyeuxia gunniana, Poa sieberiana, Carex sp., Hypoxis hygrometrica var. hygrometrica, Euphrasia ciliolata, Xerochrysum bracteatum, Wahlenbergia ceracea, Hypochaeris radicata and other native grasses and herbs. Tamworth Agricultural Research Centre Herbarium (TARCH), dup. of TARCH 7596.
