| Organism remarks | 6-33 mm wide x 6-23 mm deep x 15 mm deep; fan-shaped; surface dry, hard, tomentose (x10) in multicoloured bands, ranging from very dark brown (almost black), pale grey, pale brown, burnt umber & burnt sienna; margin straight with very narrow sterile edge (?0.5 mm). Flesh: hard, woody, to 2 mm thick; dark brown; dry. Pores: fairly regular in size - ca. 0.56 mm diameter; hard, woody, roughly circular, with white bloom lining. Spore print: dark rich brow; freely released. |
