Organism remarks | Main distinctive features: globular shape, spores, gleba. Peridium: approx 70 mm diameter; smooth, thin, papery, eroding with fissures, single layer; mottled colour, mainly off-white with some yellow-green colour; dry, does not bruise. Gleba: spores a green-yellow colour developing in irregular shaped peridioles 1 - 3 mm long; peridioles separated by moist dark brown to black matrix; peridioles arranged in concentric zones of maturity; the youngest near the stem and tightly packed and oldest, burst to release spores at the top; large cracks throughout fruit body. Stem: 50 mm x 30 mm; cracked, yellow-brown colour, rough, tapering at base. Partial veil (ring or covering over gills): absent. Universal veil: absent. Odour and taste: smells like off-fruit mixed with bad shoes; smells just like Acacia atkinsiana. Spore print colour: yellow-green. |
