Occurrence remarks Single plant ca 6 m diam, comprised of large and small rosettes; the largest leaves are ca 1.3 m long, triangular in section except near tip where it is incurved, 10 cm thick proximally decreasing to 0.5 cm distally, spine-tipped and with scattered curved marginal spines also, dull grey coloured; rosettes are connected by rhizomes. Only one rosette with infructescence, ca 8 m tall, axis 18 cm diam at base and tapering upward with 18 horizontally held branches each subtended by a large brown dry sagittate bract. Twenty capsules were inspected and all seeds were infertile. Specimen in carpological (dry) collection consists of: 1. small shoot with rhizome fragment attached. 2. slices of large leaf: base, middle, tip (scored to enable drying). 3. one lower inflorescence branch with capsules and basal bract.
