Bark grey and separating from trunk on older trees but mostly firmly appressed with outer surface in plates. Young stems glabrous. Phyllodes erect to spreading, 4-7.5 cm long, 3-6 mm wide, straight or slightly curved, grey-green, glabrous, no veins visible on fresh material, tip curved and hardened (although tip often missing), small gland close to pulvinus. 30-50 flowers per head, flowers golden, only a few open at this time, most still in bud.
