Occurrence remarks Mat-forming ground cover with some stems spreading across the ground and other erect stems to 70 cm high. Roots fibrous. Sap generally clear but in some cases milky. Leaves dark green above, much paler below; raised veins on upper surface; veins raised but less so on lower surface; antrorse hairs on margins and minute hairs on veins above, otherwise leaves glabrous; a raised gland is present on each side of the junction between the lamina and. the petiole. Calyx with 5 narrow lobes and with glands on both sides of the base of each lobe. Corolla blue-purple, tubular with 5 large rotate lobes; lower part of corolla tube with numerous white hairs on the inner surface (need to split open corolla to see these); anthers pale yellow with white hairs on upper surface, filaments yellow-white; style pale orange, stigma with a white umbrella-like tuft of hairs above the surface, the umbrella margins are 5-sided. Fruit in pairs and containing seeds
