Field notes | Gregarious. Pileus convex to broadly convex, 1-3 cm diam., smooth, dry when collected (some ? sticky). Yellowish buff. Lamellae dark brown with white, serrulate edge, adnate, adnate with short decurrent tooth, or subdecurrent. Stipe - 5 cm/4 mm, no ring, veil initially present as white, appendiculate, denticulate margin to c cap edge. Stipe base white cottony, sometimes also white cottony above where eaten by slugs etc. Stipe surface dry, yellowish buff. Spore print purple brown. Odour sweet, rhaphanoid. There is definitely no ring zone on the stipe surface; all the veil remnants remain on the cap margin. Basidiomes may have been hygrophanous and dried out - so cap colour could have been quite different when fresh - there were some orange brown buttons on dung which were not collected - could have been young stage of same species. 4-spored, spores ellipsoid tending to hexagonal, dark brown in KOH, thick walled, with distinct germ pore. Cheilocystidia [see drawing]. PL - absent. Pileipellis - outer layer gelatinized, over repent interwoven hyphae. Pigment on gelatinized hyphae encrusting and intracellular. [See attached notes for drawings.] |
