Organism remarks | Pileus 20-35mm diameter, convex at first with entire plane margin becoming applanate then later upturned with entire plane but obscurely translucent striate margin; uniformly red brown near 9D8 (garnet brown) slightly darker at centre, dry. Smooth (greasy when wet). Stipe 12-50x3-6mm, cylindrical or flattened in some, hollow, dry, entirely smooth except minutly velvety at base, concolorous with pileus. No hairs at base. Lamellae crowded, adnate-subdecurrent, shallow (to 3mm deep), edge smooth entire, edge and face concolorous tan brown near 6B5 (greyish orange) unchanging with age, lamellules present (L24, l36). Flesh brown (similar to cap and stipe). latex white, copious white when dried. Spore print: White Macrochemical Tests: 15% KOH Test: no reaction. FeSO4: no reaction. sulfovanillin bright red (imm) gumguaiac, no reaction. Mode of Life: unknown Odour: not distinctive Taste: mild. |
