Occurrence remarks Locally common (10 clumps in collection area but many 100s of clumps scattered over this slope) grass to 90 cm high. Roots pale brown, almost white. Stems and leaves mid green; ligule consisting of short white hairs. Glumes initially green towards the middle, then purple and the edges membranous, older glumes appearing almost white. Lemma with long white hairs below the sinus and all other hairs on lemma shorter, white and of similar length. Digital images with John Hosking.

Supplied as "10-20 degree slope. Moonbi and Walcha Road adamellites substrate. Dark brown sand. Callitris glaucophylla Joy Thomps. & L.A.S.Johnson open forest with scattered Eucalyptus dealbata A.Cunn. ex Schauer and a few shrubs of Dodonaea viscosa Jacq. subsp. angustissima (DC.) J.G.West, Olearia elliptica DC. s. lat., Cassinia laevis R.Br. and with Austrostipa scabra (Lindl.) S.W.L.Jacobs & J.Everett subsp. scabra, Arthropodium sp. B, Cheilanthes distans (R.Br.) Mett., Daucus glochidiatus (Labill.) Fisch., C.A.Meyer & Avé-Lall. s. lat., Linaria arvensis (L.) Desf., Aristida ramosa R.Br., Hyparrhenia hirta (L.) Stapf and Cyperus gracilis R.Br."
