Occurrence remarks | Small tree 55 ft [16.5 m] high with dense spreading crown, dbh 10 inch [25 cm]. Straight bole. Leaves dark green glossy above, medium green below. Bark: very dark brownish grey outer bark. Inner bark reddish brown 3/8 inch thick. Wood: sap and heart slightly differentiated, the later pinkish tinted. Fruit: fleshy, red when ripe, yellow and green immature stages, round smooth stone inside. This seed has small raised triangular protuberances and is not smooth as in Podocarpus amara. There appears to be two Podocarps in this area -- both good trees. The other one which was not collected has a sharply pointed leaf. |
