Field notes | Locally frequent (up to 37 plants per m2, >1000 at this location) herb to 66 cm high. Roots exude a milky sap when broken. Stems and leaves grey-green. Leaves pinnate, basal leaves longest. Disk florets with yellow long lobes at apex, tube white and surrounded by bristles; outermost florets have a yellow ligule that is slightly longer than the involucral. Involucral bracts increasing in length towards centre of head. Achenes c. 4 mm long with a thick 4-angled beak c. 7 mm long topped by a pappus of plumous bristles to 1.5 cm long |
