Occurrence remarks ANHspirit 1486. Leaves arising from ground in a colonial habit. Crownshaft present. Sheath 150 cms long, dark purple- brown in colour. Petiole c. 60 cms long. Cross section at base [diagram] and at apex [diagram]. Rachis c. 540 cm long. Cross- section at base [diagram] and at apex [diagram]. Leaves dark glossy green above, pale grey- green below, with 51 pinnae per side, placed regularly in one plane. Spadix amongst leaves. Peduncle 100 cms long. Mature fruits in subspherical ball, c. 35 cm in diameter, dark brown. Mesocarp, white, with the texture of coconut. Local name: Baien (Maira language). Spirit material collected. [FAA (or unknown) liquid changed to Bang Mix 2016.]
