Field notes Herb to 2 cm high. Leaves and stems dark green. Petals 4, white, shorter than 4 green sepals. Stamens 4 with white anthers and greenish white filaments. Stamens between petals (i.e. in middle of sepals), stamens just longer than sepals. Ovary green with 3 greenish white style arms. Seeds black with honeycomb ridges and small pits between the ridges.

(J.R.Hosking 3676) on higher ground around the Edge of the swamp, growing with Gratiola peruviana, Trifolium repens, Isotoma fluviatilis subsp. borealis, Hydrocotyle spp., Juncus homalocaulis, Cyperus sphaeroideus, Isolepis hookeriana (J.R.Hosking 3679), Isolepis subtilissima, Juncus filiformis, Hypericum japonicum s.lat., Schoenus apogon s.lat. and Acetosella vulgaris."
