Occurrence remarks Main trail margins cleared of adjoining heath, presumably for bushfire fighting safety. This disturbance has facilitated germination and/or resprouting of {D. fusca} in substantial numbers in several patches over a few km. Some plants were evident on regenerating disused trails. Species was not observed in intact closed heath which appears to have been unburnt for a considerable period. {D. fusca} requires disturbance such as fire or other means of opening up the heath or heathy understorey and allowing it to germinate and/or resprout before being outcompeted by more common and larger shrubs. Species is locally common but only in relately small strips and patches. It is seemingly absent from many areas of apparently suitable habitat. May become more widespread and common in vast areas of adjoining heathlands post fire given recent observations in Namadgi NP in ACT.

Locality In patches and strips on edge of Razorback Firetrail, Wadbilliga National Park, in vicinity of partially disused circular trail on unnnamed knoll. Yowrie 1:100,000 sheet (GDA). Easting: 730514, Northing: 5974288.
Habitat Soil: variously metamorphosed fine-grained sediments intruded by quartz veins and very close to or actually within the metamorphic aureole of underlying and sometimes emergent grtanite. Very shallow, largely skeletal soils. Vegetation: associated species at this site include {Kunzea "Badja Carpet"}, scattered {Allocasuarina nana} (abundant in intact heath), {Haloragodendron monospermum, Hakea laevipes, Lepidosperma} sp., {Stylidium} sp., {Patersonia} sp., {Monotoca scoparia, Persoonia asperula, Banksia canei, Platysace lanceolata} and {Eucalyptus pauciflora} (rare and small emergents).
