Occurrence remarks | Same as G.W.Carr 9710-49 & J.R.Hosking. Tree originally planted but now spreading vegetatively and crossing with female Salix x sepulcralis Simonk. var. sepulcralis. Seven planted trees to 20 m high and a number naturalised down stream. Male catkins to 7.5 cm long on a peduncle c. 1.5 cm long. Stamens with golden anthers. Leaves with lower surface glaucous, upper surface green and shiny. Leaf margins toothed except for young leaves which may be entire. Lower surface of youngest leaves hairy, other leaves glabrous. Young branches golden green, older branches with smooth grey bark and trunk with bark fissured and roughly tessellated. Upper branches erect. Branches break easily |
