Occurrence remarks | Uncommon understorey plant growing with Hibbertia superans. Sparse decumbent shrub with a wiry branch or two extending to 25 cm and up to 15 cm high. Branchlets are red-brown and glabrous. Yellow flowers are solitary on peduncles 15 – 18 mm long, in leaf axils in near terminal positions. There are 6 stamens on one side of 2 densely hairy ovaries. Sepals are 5 – 6 mm long and the petals 8 – 9 mm long. The sepals have distinctive silvery ‘fish-hook’ hairs. Peduncles, sepals and styles are red-brown (sometimes pink) in colour (with age?). Alternate leaves are spaced along the branchlets and are ± sessile. They are linear, 11 – 20 mm long and 1 mm wide, glabrous on the adaxial surface and pungent-tipped. The wide central vein on the abaxial surface sits below the recurved leaf margins that almost cover the papillose lower surface. [Ex BIS 21564.] |
