Occurrence remarks Perennial, caespitose. Basal leaves 1-1.5 metres long x 2-4 cm wide, thick, grey/blue-green. Flowering stems to 2.5 metres high, grey/blue-green, hollow, pithy. Flowering heads purplish-red, in panicles. Various parts of the plant have a typical Apiaceae scent. This specimen was collected from a self-established plant. This species frequently self-establishes on the banks and walls of the Ornamental Lake, and is potentially a serious environmental weed. It has been partly removed from the edges of the lake, but its also present on the islands of the lake.
