Field notes | Solitary, annual, pileate and broadly attached by entire width, 85 mm perpendicular to substrate, 147 mm wide, 33 mm thick at base, cream (3A2, 4A2), darkening and waterlogging in age, and with algae growing in pockets. Pores round, c 2.5 per mm, 25 per cm, pale cream (4A2), mouths entire, concolorous; tubes up to 9 mm long, concolorous. Flesh cream (3A2, 3A3), very tough, up to 18 mm thick at base. No bruising reactions. Smell unpleasant, like rotting polypore, but likely just rotting! Spore print white. |
