Organism remarks | PILEUS 15-35 mm wide; obtusely conical to convex-umbonate, margin decurved; surface dry, smooth and unbroken at the centre, velipellis absent, shaggy appressed fibrillose to nearly appressed squamulose towards the margin, rimulose to rimose towards the margin; yellowish brown to golden brown (5C7 - 5D8 - 5D7); context white, unchanging where bruised or cut. LAMELLAE adnexed, moderately close with several tiers of lamellulae; tan, pale grayish brown, to yellowish brown; edges with an even appearance. STIPE 10-40 x 3-4 mm, strict, equal with a slightly bulbous base; surface lightly pruinose above with a slight subfibrillose appearance below, above the base with a fine obscure pale orange brown zone on top of the bulb; nearly white overall when young, greyish yellow (4B4) with age; context with a pithy interior, becoming hollow. SPORES 8.3-9.4-10.6 x 5.8-6.6-7.3 um, gibbous with often 10-11 small to moderate-sized conic nodules, at times with a pronounced apical nodule, yellowish brown. BASIDIA 29-33 x 7-10 um, clavate, hyaline, often 4-sterigmate but 2-sterigmate also observed. PLEUROCYSTIDIA 55-68 x 14-17 µm, mostly fusiform and tapered at both ends, but occasionally lageniform, deeply embedded within the subhymenium; apices obtuse with crystalliferous apices; thick-walled, walls 4.0-5.0 µm thick, yellow in KOH, hyaline in water. CHEILOCYSTIDIA similar to pleurocystidia but shorter. CAULOCYSTIDIA descending entire length of stipe, similar to pleurocystidia but hyaline, intermixed with cauloparacystidia and cells of intermediate size and shape. PILEIPELLIS a cutis ochraceous-tawny in mass, composed of cylindric, incrusted hyphae up to 15 µm wide. ClLAMPS present. |
