Field notes | Submerged freshwater macrophyte, rooted into the substrate and reaching the water surface forming a dense mat. Stem material is green - reddish brown and is occupying the extent of the water coloumn. It has submerged leaves that are fan-shaped, feathery and green. It also has small narrow floating diamond-shaped leaves (c. 10 mm long c. 2 mm wide) at the tips of the flowering stem. Small white flowers emerged above the surface of the water. |

Supplied as "Growing in freshwater lake, submerged species growing as a monoculture throughout the entire lake. Very small isolated populations of another macrophyte Vallisneria australis on the northern embankment around the Midland Hwy bridge. Populations of Nymphaea mexicana also exist throught the lake. Specimen was collected growing at a depth of 0.8 m." |
