Field notes | Tree 42 feet tall with grey, fibrous, vertically furrowed bark. Flowers in sessile agglomerated heads along the branchlets below the main foliage. Calyx tube silvery pubescent, the small lobes with s pinkish tinge. Petals 5, small, round, red. Stamens red (RHS colour Red 46C), 5, each apically divided into a bundle of short filaments with dark purple anthers. Style red, slightly bowed. |
