Field notes Spreading shrub 2 m tall x 2 m wide, branches spreading, young leaves tinged pink. Buds light green in basal half, red in apical half; limb nodding (not revolute); inflorescence rachis erect to decurved, thicker and hairier than peduncle. Flowers: tepals light green in basal half (to level of separation of lateral sutures), bright scarlet in apical half; style dull pinkish-red throughout; ventral tepals (after anthesis) recurved through c. 270 degrees, spreading from plane of symmetry at c. 30 degrees; tips resting

Occurrence remarks adjacent to point of opening of lateral sutures; dorsal tepals raised behind style, recurved through <180 degrees, tips pointing back and down; anthers presented forward (towards style-end). The whole tepal configuration forms a splay-legged H. with dorsal anthers at tip of the uprights.
