Field notes Culms erect, to 8 mm diameter; leaves to 15 mm wide, floating when long, the shorter, younger leaves erect, dark green above, paler green beneath. Culms and pedicels and fruits green, the pedicels and fruits rarely tinged maroon. 2-5 fruits maturing for each flower, the remaining ones aborting. Plants apparently need the deepish water to grow, flower and fruit, as none were found on damp areas where water has been quite temporary.
