Event remarks | Locally abundant (many 1000s over at least 200m of the gully above houses) succulent herb to 1.2m high. Stems rooting where in contact with the ground. Leaves to 7cm long and 1cm wide. Upper two thirds to 3/4 of leaves V shaped in cross section and with what appear to be toothed margins, lower section round in cross section, overall grey green with brownish blotched brown. Flowers drooping in flat-topped umbels. Calyx joined for lower third and with 4 lobes above, grey green to pale reddish green. Corolla ca 2.5cm long, reddish to yellow with 4 lobes. Stamens 8, enclosed within the corolla tube and with greenish filaments attached to the corolla tube, anthers purple, pollen greenish yellow when present. Carpels 4, free, end of styles exserted from the tube. Gully and gully banks alongside a gully; greywacke; red brown clay loam. Mostly under Notelaea microcarpa var. microcarpa, Dodonea viscosa subsp. angustifolium, Ligustrum lucidum as dominant ground cover with Asparagus asparagoides starting to grow in the area. |
