Previous identifications Opuntia tomentosa Salm-Dyck, Hosking J.R., 2009
Occurrence remarks Locally common (100s scattered around property, many more in district). Plants are sometimes lopped as drought fodder and do not appear to cause stock problems. According to Barry Smith this species may have been planted on his property (near Dimberoy) many years ago for drought fodder, and this may have been how plants were introduced to the area. Opuntia tomentosa is now found from ‘Dimberoy’ to east of Curlewis. The only other cactus on ‘Dimberoy’ is Opuntia stricta (Haw.) Haw.
