Field notes Note tubers varying from globular to long-cylindrical or elongated, approx. diamond shape. Rhizome and lower several cm of leaves buried in sandy soil beneath 20cm water (large plants) or the soil saturated but no free surface water (small plants) or float on the water surface or trail submerged (large plants) in quite strongly flowing fresh water. Leaves either plane, undulate-margined, or sometimes loosely spiralled in the water. No flowers or fruit located (too late in season). Leaves thin-textured, plane, approx.
