Field notes Single stemmed palms. Height 11 m, stem 7 m x 32 cm dbh, clean without persistent petiole bases. A few scattered stubs of petioles on basal metre. Stem grey-grey brown, vertical fissure marks 6 - 20 cm long, conspicuous. Petiole scars produce parallel, shallow, stepped, transverse ridges along the trunk. Fire effects - blackening of the trunk to 4 metres. Robust base, spreading gradually. Leaf segment ends hanging, but some specimens around 11 m tall still with relatively stiff segment ends, just beginning to change to leaves with
