Occurrence remarks | Plants occur as patches of c.1m diameter, which have developed from the decumbent, rooting stems and are c.0.3 m high. Leaves succulent, with only a faint "herby" smell when crushed. Leaf dissection varies from plant to plant; this plant has shallowly serrated leaves, up to 50mm long, with small stipules, at their base. Root-tips are appearing on the nodes of the flowering stems up to where side-branches with flower buds develop in the leaf axils.Flower heads 11mm long, 13mm wide near base, contracting to 9mm towards top; 13 ray flowers, ligules 17x5mm, with 4 veins. Achenes (from heads ripened in. Duplicate sent to Prof. R.O. Belcher on 11 November 1988. Prof. Belcher. (in letters dated 2 November 1987 and 6 March 1990) points out the possibility that these plants may represent S. anacampserotis, DC, the type specimen of which was collected at Port Jackson in the mid-1830s, rather than~S. spathulatus.
