Field notes Pileus convex, to 2 cm diam., medium brown (near "fawn"), densely covered throughout with matted hairs. Lamellae adnexed, ventricose, fimbriate, brown. Stipe 1.5 cm long, 3 mm diam. nr. the apex, tapering downwards, brown, fibrillose. Spores smooth, irregularly oblong, 8-8.5 x 5.5-6 µm, pale brown. Cheilocystidia present, of large inflated cells, hyaline. No metuloids present. Pileipellis of encrusted, pigmented hairs, clamped, overlying smooth hyphae.
Previous identifications Inocybe cystidiocatenata Grgur., This appears to be an Inocybe of the group to which I. cystidiocatenata belongs (i.e. no metuloids, smooth spores, inflated cheilo-cystidia, densely hairy pileus).
