Occurrence remarks Locally frequent (20 clumps in area 5 m - relatively dense over a circular area with radius of 100 m, alos seen in Grawin) cactus to 1.5 m high. Older cladodes becoming woody and to >1 m long and to 2 cm wide. Outer cladodes yellow-green, up to 25 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. Cladodes, particularly outer cladodes, easily separated from plants. Spines 1 per areole, to 1.1 cm long. Nearest areoles c. 3 mm apart on matrue cladodes. Petaloid perianth segments greenish yellow; stigma, style, filaments, anthers and pollen greenish white. Fruit red with up to 5 segments growing from fruit. Same species and same location as J.R. Hosking 1890.
