Occurrence remarks | Spindly shrubs to 3m tall but mostly <1.7m. Leaves discolorous, sometimes with a paler central area. Flowers crimson. Fruit a fleshy pink-white 'berry' with a persistent crimson calyx. Some plants 'dripping' with fruit. Scattered to dense plants growing in shade of trees along both sides of Whyanbeel Creek Road for a distance of at least 500m, immediately adjacent to Whyanbeel Creek. Additional specimens requested by BRI to confirm whether naturalised. It is BMW's opinion that this species is locally naturalised at this site. Distribution beneath trees suggests bird-dispersal. Collected as part of the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy. This specimen has been treated with ethanol for quarantine purposes. |
