Occurrence remarks Free floating suspended aquatic herbs with sparsely-branched stems to at least 60 cm long. Leaves opposite, linear to 20 mm long by 0.8 mm wide at the base; margins sparsely dentate. Apex acute. Leaf base is a sheath about 2 mm long that has a triangular stipule where the leaf blade moves away from the stem. Fruit (formed on a plant in cultivation for three weeks after collection) sessile or shortly pedicellate, solitary, ovoid, to ca. 1.5 mm long, with a persistent style. Occurring up to four metres from the shore right around the dam. Several hundreds of plants seen.
