Occurrence remarks | Well formed tree, straight bole; height 60 feet, bole 30 feet, dbh 18 inches, bark 5/8 inch thick; slightly rough, fine vertical cracks, curved, spiral, parallel; sheds in short irregular flakes; charcoal grey and brown in colour;outer layer of bark laminated; under bark pale brown, reddish streaks; inner. Bark brown; sapwood pale brown 0.5 inche wide, exuding red gum when cut from gum canals, clearly visible; heartwood deep brick-red, interlocked, splintery; very hard, tough and heavy; leaves bluish-grey-green in colour; fruit mid brown in colour. Local name Yemi. Fruit separate. |
