Occurrence remarks Tall fairly straight tree, flanged up to 2ft at the base, c 90ft overall and 74in gbh; millable bole 48ft. Sapwood surface wrinkled; wood closely grained and fairly tough and said to make good axe-handles. Outer bark (on wood sample taken 2ft above ground) dull purplish-brown with a few shallow faint grooves c 0.5-1in apart and dotted by pustular lenticels or tubercles.
