Field notes | [Label 1: ] Spore globose, 7-8um diam., amyloid, reticulate ornamentation but no pyramidal 'spikes', ie. the spikiness seen at x400 magnification is due to the ridges of the reticulation. The ornamentation is rather sparse. [Label 2:] Earthball c. 2 cm diam., "dark brick", somewhat divided or deformed. Labyrinth of tramal plates, with spores appearing whitish using a hand lens. Spores spherical, mostly 7-8 µm diam., ornamented with blunt spikes and bearing a short, stumpy apiculus, the spore being of the Russulaceae-type, with a pronounced central droplet, ornamentation reticulate. A gill squash produces abundant "murky amyloid material". [Notes from two labels for separate donations of this collection - see Data entry notes.] |
