Dataset / Survey name [PERTH AVH data]
Organism remarks 1. sclerotial-like mass attached to the base of the bulbous stem. 2. flesh white but changing to greyish purple (and some rust red then black near base of the stem) when cut 3. dull greenish pores which bruise dull blue which turns to brown after 5 mins. 4. large, bulky size of the fruit bodies. 5. dull brown, dry cap. CAP: up to 90 mm borad; convex to flat convex with a thick margin which clasps and extend over present and may become acedate when old. Dull greyish (near 6C3) when young, often darker dull brown (near 7E6) when mature. Extreme margin is cream. Cap bruises dark brown then black. Hymmenium: tubes broadly adnexed; to 20 mm long but very short when young, pale greenish-grey (4C3) when young then paler (paler than 4B2), bruising brown (no blue phase seen). Pores - about 0.5 mm diam. but fairly uneven size, random shape and prientation, some with dull greenish (near 4B3) when mature, bruising blue (Dull) then changing to dark brown after about 5 minutes. Stem: to 60 x 50 mm; stocky bulbous with a tapering base; solid and firm; surface smooth, dry, cream or very pale yellow when young, developing a burnt red flush near the lower parts (near 8D8) not greatly bruising. Flesh white but after being cut turns purplish - grey especially in the stem, and also rusty red then black at the base of the stem. Basel mycelium: whitish forming a dense-hard sclerotial-like mass at the base of the stem (soil + fungus). Mode of life: unknown. Odour: none. Taste: none. Macrochemical: 15% KOH Test: bright orange on flesh dark red on the pores. Sporeprint: Brown (no hint of olive at all) (6E6). Mode of life: unknown.
