Field notes | Gactus to 1.5 m high. Older segments becoming woody, to over 1 m long and 2 cm wide. Outer segments yellow-green, up to 25 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. Fruit red with up to 5 segments growing from fruit. Segments, particularly outer segments, easily separated from plants. Spines 1 per areole, to 1.1 cm long. Nearest areoles c. 3 mm apart on mature cladodes. |
