Occurrence remarks Erect, much branched shrubs to 2.5 m tall. Basal stems to 10 cm diameter. Young stems green to yellowish green, older stems brown. Spines projecting at right angles or almost so to branch. Branches 10-15 mm diameter. Fruit mostly not developing, maturing ones orange yellow to dull orange brown. Most fruits solitary but a few chains of 2 links were observed. Leaves on new branches 4-7 mm long, terete, tapering at apex, brownish. Patch of 10-12 plants or groups of plants.
