Occurrence remarks >30 small plants to 2 m high. Tree. Adult tree over 20 m high. Leaves and thorny small tree trunk from a young tree, flowers fallen from an adult tree. Trunks of trees, including those of juveniles, with thorns; thorns on adult trees circular in cross section, to 5 cm long and 5 cm across base. Leaves palmate with 3-7 leaflets (leaves on older plants with 7 leaflets). Leaflets dark green above, paler below. Petals 5; pink with white base on outer surface; inner surface pink above, white longitudinally streaked purple below. Stamens 5 in tube around base of style; anthers dark red with numerous white hairs; style white, stigma with 5 lobes each dark brown with cream margins. This species was originally planted in the Bellingen hospital grounds in 1965 and 1970.
