| Event remarks | Spirit also at MEL. Culms erect, to 8mm diameter, leaves to 15mm wide, floating when long, the shorter, younger leaves erect, dark green above, paler green beneath. Culms and pedicels and fruits green, the pedicels and fruits rarely tinged maroon. 2-5 fruits maturing for each flower, the remaining ones aborting. Common in few 45cm of still clear water over grey clay (loamy, sandy clay) in black box - lignum woodland. Creek has had exceptionally wet conditions over the last two winters due to high rainfall years. Plants apparently need the deepish water to grow, flower and fruit, as none were found on damp areas where water has been quite temporary. |
