Organism remarks | Characteristic Features: (i) narrow bendable stipe thickly covered with short sharp-pointed cystidial hairs; (ii) pileus thin-fleshed, to 30 mm broad; translucent striate with age, and radially wrinkled-grooved near margin when mature, surface otherwise smooth, dry; (iii) lamellae adnate, only to 2 mm deep; edge slightly paler than face but not cystidiate, tending to become wavy-wrinkled with age. NLB 1115 seems closest morphologically to Micromphale australiensis. Micro: spores cylindric (face view), narrow ellipsoid to lacriform (side view), hyaline in KOH, smooth/thin-walled, e.g. 7.7 x 3.7; 8.2 x 3.8 microns. Some with long apical cylindric extensions (up to 10 microns long). Not amyloid or dextrinoid. Caulocystidia cylindric, thin-walled, no crystals, clamped. Cheilocystidia abundant, clavate, sometimes distorted. Pileipellis of encrusted brown hyphae with undifferentiated and slightly swollen terminals. No rameales or nodulose-diverticulate elements. Odour: none to slightly soapy. Spore print: cream. |
Occurrence remarks | In sand amid woody debris under shrubs (not usually directly attached to wood). |
