Field notes Herb to 20 cm high, but plants mostly prostrate. Stems and petioles hairless. Stipules with teeth on margin. Leaves dark green above and with white hairs, lower surface paler and hairless. Bracteoles 2, attenuate, green-brown falling early. Sepals 5 each with an obvious basal appendage. Petals purple-pink with white base that is streaked purple; hairs in throat of flower. Capsules 3-sided, c. 10 mm long and 5-6 mm wide. Capsules opened contained 11, 10 and 11 seeds respectively. Seeds white to dark brown at this time.

Landform: gully and road bank. Substrate: basalt. Soil: red brown clay loam."
