Occurrence remarks | Short-stemmed, solitary palm with trunk to 1.5m, crownshaft poorly defined with sheath splitting almost to the base opposite the prtiole, 9 leaves in crown. Crownshaft c. 70cm x 15cm (fatter in many individuals), sheath c. 50cm long, petiole 40cm, rachis c. 120cm, somewhat recurved, c. 37 leaflets each side of rachis, arranged regularly, ascending. Inflorescences 6, deflexed, c. 30cm long in flower, c. 45cm long in fruit, c. 25 primary branches, peduncle short. Fruit red when ripe, endosperm homogeneous. Voucher for DNA extraction Kew DNA Bank. |
