Occurrence remarks | Cactus to 2.5m high and in clumps to 4m wide. Cladodes dark green with darker purplish area around areoles, newer cladodes paler. Upper cladodes with 0-9 spines, one spine per areole when present. Cladodes at the base of old plants (trunk area) often with up to 6 spines per areole. Outer cladodes to 30cm long and to 11cm wide. Petaloid perianth segments orange, c. 3cm long and 1.8cm wide; stigma pale green, style white, stigma and style 2cm long; stamens with white filaments and pale yellow anthers. |
